Time-lapse Reel of Footage Produced for Mystery Rd Series 1 Opening Titles

Mystery Road Series 1 Time-lapse Reel. ABC and Bunya Productions. Shot on location in Kununurra, Wyndham and surrounds, this 3 week shoot was undertaken to produce title sequence for each episode. Unique to Mystery Road, the opening sequence interprets critical plot points conveying the narrative of each episode using time-lapse.

Working from storyboards at first then interpreting the script for laters episodes, a separate shoot was required for each episode in the series.

The brief was to capture transitions of day to night and night to day, moon rise and set and the Milky Way rising and setting over the landscape and props. The desert skies and landscapes were treated as a character in the series.

The team used motion control extensively. The sequences were shot on DSLRs and the Camblock system using tilt, pan, dolly and focus pull typically with 3 cameras and rigs running simultaneously.

Wentworth (Fox)

Time-lapse Reel of Footage Produced for Wentworth

Time-lapse reel comprising of sequences created for the production ‘Wentworth’. The footage is used in the title sequences, transitions and interstitials. The 2-3 days brief, filmed on set in Melbourne, was to convey the drab, cold and repetitive life of the prisoners in the yard with the passing of time shown through shadow movement and light transitions. Signage, surveillance and the industrial orange lighting was used to reinforce the oppressive nature life in of ‘H Block’. The footage was produced using numerous motion-control rigs, with tilt, pan, dolly and focus pulling automated over hours.

Shot on location around Lombadina North of Broome, this shoot was undertaken to produce title sequences for each episode. Unique to Mystery Road, the opening sequence interprets critical plot points conveying the narrative of each episode using time-lapse.

The brief was to capture the murdered body floating in the mangroves over transitions of day to night, night to day, moon rise and moonset. The landscape was treated as a character in the series.

The team used water housings for the tide imagery and motion control extensively. The sequences were shot on DSLRs and the Camblock system using tilt, pan, dolly and focus pull typically with 3 cameras and rigs running simultaneously.

Shot on location Broome and the Roeburn Roadhouse. This shoot was undertaken to produce title sequences for each episode. Unique to Mystery Road, the opening sequence interprets critical plot points conveying the narrative of each episode using time-lapse.

The brief was to capture the drama of the road-trains swapping rigs on the hard-stand and stopping for the night at the outback roadhouse.

The team used and motion control and static setups. The sequences were shot on DSLRs and the Camblock system using tilt, pan, dolly typically with 3 cameras and rigs running simultaneously.

The brief was to capture the burnt out car, transitions of day to night and and the general passing of time with the car lit by moonlight and some additional lighting.
